Wrexham: The Holywell Way (GPX only)

A Pilgrim Way from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Sorrows in Wrexham to the Shrine of St Winefride at Holywell.
The Way is northwards from the Cathedral to join the Wat's Dyke Way which then passes through a deep valley to the Alyn Waters Country Park and the twin villages of Hope and Caergwrle. After almost 10 miles the Pilgrim Way diverges from the Wat's Dyke Trail to visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Buckley, rejoining the Trail just over a mile later. On leaving the village of Sychdyn the Wat's Dyke Trail diverts from the line of the Dyke to take in a Celtic hill fort at Rhosesmor. The Pilgrim Way takes a shorter route but the two paths coincide again shortly before crossing the A55. After this the path passes near to Flint via an impressive section of the Dyke. The Way ends at the Shrine of St Winefride in Holywell, but pilgrims may want to walk on to Basingwerk Abbey, a 12th century Cistercian monastery.
