Nature trail "In the land of Milan, Storch & Co"
The nature experience path "In the land of Milan, Storch & Co" provides information at 18 stations about the animal inhabitants around the nature experience villages and their needs. There are also activity and observation stations: a brood observation pavilion, a large aviary, which offers injured white storks protection. Observation opportunities offered by nesting platforms, shallow ponds and wet meadows are perfectly fit for healthy white storks.
Silhouettes on which you can measure your own wingspan with that of a stork and red kite and an educational path for bees between stations 3 and 4 are also part of the tour.
The offer is to be continuously expanded. The nature experience path sharpens the view for the diversity and worthy of protection of a varied natural and cultural landscape in the national park region.

Turn-by-turn directions
From station 5, it goes quite steeply downhill on a tarred path, past the bat cave "Achatkaul" (station 6) to Niederhambach-Burbach. Between stations 6 and 7, instead of going to Niederhambach, you can hike directly to station 13 in the direction of Schmißberg (stations 1 to 6 and 13 to 18). In Niederhambach-Burbach (station 7), the route continues past the refuge to Niederhambach-Böschweiler (station 8). Here you have the opportunity to take a break at the Hambach or at the new village community center. The village community center is a good starting point if you only want to go to stations 7 to 12 and want to walk a 6.6 km long section around Niederhambach. The brood observation pavilion is also located here. The path then leads to Niederhambach-Heupweiler (station 9).
Along the old mill, the path now leads through the fields up to the wind turbine and a rest area with a small shelter (station 10). From here there is a long, slightly downhill stretch with beautiful views of the districts of Niederhambach. From station 11 you can see the orchard meadow. At the cemetery (station 12) the path branches off towards Niederhambach-Burbach. When you arrive in the district of Burbach, follow the well-known route for a short distance before turning right to station 13. This is followed by a longer forest passage to the outskirts of Schmißberg. Station 14 offers a special highlight with the white stork aviary. At station 15 you have a good view of one of the white stork nesting platforms and the shallow ponds. Then it goes along the K8 to the third nature adventure village, to the village community center of Schmißberg. Here, too, you can park and start the tour. Shortly after leaving the village, you dive into a longer passage through the forest.
After three more stations and a stretch along the edge of the forest and through fields with excellent opportunities to observe various species of birds of prey and the skylark, the path leads along the L172 back to the starting point in Rimsberg.
