Beautiful Alpine walk, with great views of the Cresta and the Signinagruppe. On the Alp Mora lie like a string of pearls strung the glacier mills. These are filled with crystal clear water.

The glacier mills on the Alp Mora are among the most beautiful and extraordinary natural formations in Flims. Here, the Maliensbach, which has its origins on the Alp Mora in Trin, has for centuries washed out large tubs that string together like pearls. Crystal clear, turquoise water fills the nearly 20 glacier mills after the snow melts and invites you to bathe in the summer months. Strung together and with the Safiental as a view, the glacier mills offer a spectacular photo opportunity.

While at higher altitudes there is at best already snow, the trails in the valley are still free of snow. Our interactive snow depth map helps you to plan your tour. Here you can see at a glance at www.flims.com/schneesituation where you can already expect snow on the paths and trails and where you can still be on the road without getting cold feet.

Author’s recommendation

Please take enough water with you, as there is no drinking water well on Alp Mora.

Pack your swimming trunks, refresh in the glacier mills on Alp Mora.

Turn-by-turn directions

The Flims Laax Falera Shuttle takes us to Bargis, the starting point of the full-day hike. The beautiful high valley enchanted by the large flood plain and the outward character of the Flembaches. After a first ascent we reach the Alp Lavadignas. Thereafter, the path nestles against the cliffs at the foot of the Chep with wildly romantic rocky outcrops. At the viewpoint Plaunca Dira, the effort is generously rewarded with a wide-angle view from the Silvretta to the Oberalp Pass. At our feet lies Flims with the Grosswald, Crestasee and Lake Cauma. Beyond, the view sweeps into the Lugnez with the white-backed Piz Terri and Piz Aul. Opposite is the high altitude terrace of the Crap da Flem or Flimserstein. Here we cross the high valley Muletg and continue past the avalanche dam Platt 'Alva, to Val Maliens. Primal ice masses polished the limestone rocks during centuries of work. More recently, the Maliensbach has sought a way in the rock and thereby grind out käsekesselgrosse wells, so-called whirlpool, out. In the dozen, they lie one behind the other, almost white, the rock and turquoise-clear, the water in the funnel. If the brook has little water, it can be used on hot days in the troughs at 2100 m above sea level. After this refreshment, it goes downhill on the old alpine path, where the forest provides soothing shade and yet always free the view to the Safiental and Piz Beverin, to Trin.
