Having a landscape similar to that of the Baiului Mountains, Mount Grohotiș offers relaxing mountain hikes. The hike to Grohotiș Peak might seem endless, but nevertheless rewarding.

Mount Grohotiș is not very popular among hikers. Instead, off-road enthusiasts come here often, taking advantage of the unforested and gentle peaks, which also allow extraordinary panoramas.

Grohotiș Peak (1768m), the highest of these peaks, could very easily be confused with a hilltop. To get here, you follow the marked path. It takes you first through a forest, continues on a forest road visibly marked by ATV wheels. In the end, you reach the alpine meadow. The path, still visible on the dry vegetation, goes by several peaks until actually reaching the main peak.

The walk in the alpine meadow might seem very long. Many hikers mistake the Bobul Mare peak for Grohotiș Peak, and stop there. But the latter is marked with a concrete pillar.

On the horizon, on clear days, you can see the entire ridge of the Bucegi Mountains, the Baiului Mountain, and parts of Ciucaș Mountain.

Author’s recommendation

On clear autumn days, if you start your hike early, you might see a blanket of clouds hovering over the valleys - the picture is awesome.
