The route lends itself as a day trip where we can combine the pleasure of cycling through the forest and along the hills with visiting Mediaș, a medieval town from Transylvania.

In Bazna we follow Pincipala Street to the junction at the exit of the resort. Here we turn left then left again and pass a building with an extremely nervous dog on a chain. We keep going past the Balnea Expro Complex and at the end of the road we turn right and start the climb up to the forest.
The Via Transilvanica route is well marked and will take us, through the forest, directly to Mediaș. Here we visit the centre and then head towards the exit to Dârlos. Once out of Mediaș, at the first crossroads keep going straight ahead (the main road turns right) and continue a gentle climb towards Valea Lungă and then Păucea. Turn left at the crossroads in front of the church and turn right at the next unmarked crossroads.
The road climbs further towards Romanești. At the end of the village we see the church and follow the agricultural road on the left. At the fork in the road, turn left and follow the fast descent to Blăjel. From here we continue on the road on DJ 142B to the starting point.
Take your time to visit Mediaș. The central area has recently been restored.
