Very close to Petroșani we find Băniței Gorges which are definitely worth visiting. With a length of only 300m, however, they are extremely spectacular.

Băniței creek dug in the area of the gorges a narrow corridor, slightly winding, between the high walls of white limestone. Initially, the creek dug a cave here, whose ceiling collapsed. The limestone walls are beautifully sculpted and rounded by the waters of the stream, which in some places have dug some very spectacular potholes.

Author’s recommendation

Especially in summer, on weekends, expect a lot of visitors that have the same destination.

Equipment

Wear a pair of sport sandals (with adherent sole) because you will go straight through the water. Also keep a dry pair of shoes because you can still visit other objectives.
