Reeth High Moor - Walking with Wheels

A route on open Moorland taken from the Yorkshire Dales Miles Without Stiles - Route 13 - Old Gang Smelt Mill.
A scooter user needs to be equipped for bad weather and accompanied for safety and to open boundary gates.
This was completed in September 2019 and the 9km (5.5 mile) circular route starts at small off-road parking area near Surrender Bridge. - OS Map Reference - SD 990 996.
The route starts and ends on a short sections of single-track road. Passing over a cattle grid and bridge before turning onto bridleways/moorland shooting tracks. The route passes the Old Gang Smelt Mill used to process the lead ore mined up on Melbecks Moor.
The moorland tracks are generally 2 metres (6 feet) wide and a well surfaced with gravel with short battery sapping climbs of 1 in 6.
It is open access land and remote exposed moorland. Be prepared for a change of weather.
The start is at about 340 metres (1110 feet) above sea level and reaching about 572 metres (1875 feet).
