Very nice mountain hike amid forests, meadows and rocks. Great views and varied landscapes.

The circular route starts above Musso in the forest, then we walked steeply uphill, partly also over meadows and small brooks. After 30 minutes we reached some buildings, where goats like to chill in the shade and enjoy the view. Further up, the vegetation gets more and more sparse, we walked over meadows or some scree. Shorter passages are also quite rocky. There are views along the way again and again, especially on a Platteau a bit below the chapel. The chapel itself is quite simple and inconspicuous but offers a great view of the lake. At the beginning of the descent, the path is very narrow but later on, it turns into a wide gravel path.

Author’s recommendation

Navigation equipment is very useful because of the somewhat confusing routing. Sturdy shoes are required as there are some stony and rocky passages.

Turn-by-turn directions

In Musso, look for the small road (Via del Marmo) that leads steeply uphill. At the start of the hike, there is a small parking lot for 3-4 cars on the right. But it is also possible to park at the side of the road. Then, follow the narrow, steep mountain path up to some houses. After that, it is a little bit difficult to find the right way which leads to the chapel. A navigation device is very useful here. In the further course, follow the existing path up to the chapel. After the chapel, continue on the well-visible path that later leads to a wide gravel path. Walk downhill to the starting point.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes, as the chapel is located above 1100m, it can be a little cooler in the summertime, take a jacket with you.

Firstly this hike is more like 4 hours plus any breaks for rest, only an expert hill runner would do it in less! It is a good quite steep strenuous hike which we did clockwise following the red/white markers which keeps you mostly climbing off the road and up through small groups of mountain houses. The only place we found no markers was from the parking spot but we followed the path up from there and eventually joined the red/white route (possibly we parked a bit below the stated parking spot but it was where the app link took us) Wonderful views from the top and at other points along the way. Generally the path is good and not dangerous if you are wearing good hiking footwear. Lovely alp area on the descent at the level of the pilons.

Beautiful but strenuous hike with great scenery. We went with 2 kids and a dog and it took us 4 hours with breaks. The way back is a bit boring but you get down pretty quickly.
