A relaxing hike to the Znamana peak, surrounded by an extremely picturesque nature that offers unforgettable views of the peaks bordering the Danube.

We start our hike in front of the Restaurant in Eibenthal, after a tasty and filling breakfast. The ascent is smooth and gives us a great view from the very beginning of the hike. The spring rains have allowed all the meadows to show us the typical raw green, in the places without shade it is already getting shades of yellow.
Part of the ascent passes through the forest, but in the uncovered section the sun is burning brightly. Not long after 2 hours of walking we reach the Znamana peak, where a local has an extremely picturesque hut. There is also a cluster of trees here, giving us the opportunity to take a well-deserved rest in the shade and admire the scenery in peace.
We decide to return via Baia Nouă, along a road that the inhabitants of the local houses used to use to get to work at the mine at the end of the village. From Baia Nouă, we take a paved road and return easily to our starting point.
Author’s recommendation
Locals Loiza and Jenik have modest huts there, and accommodation and barbecue can be arranged with them. Between the two huts is a well that has water all year round.
