A bike ride near Bucharest, for all-level bikers, although a little long. It rides mostly on asphalt and visits several lakes in the Mostiștea Valley.

Călărași County is not a very touristy one, but it happens to be transited by an important European cycling route. The EuroVelo 6 section connecting the Atlantic and the Black Sea cuts through the southern part of the county and it is the ideal bike ride to the Black Sea resorts on the Romanian coast, avoiding the highway. Beware, as there are no separate bike lanes, only some specific signs.

This specific route includes only a few kilometers from EuroVelo 6, before turning towards the Mostiștea wetland. The landscape displays low, sometimes arid meadows and lakes. Shady areas are few, mostly in villages.

With a little research beforehand, you can stop at a blacksmith's workshop or visit the Ciocănești Fish Farm.
