The largest fortress in Romania offers many interesting places to visit. The active tourist will pass under the Gate of the Fortress and will visit the two cathedrals, Horea's cell, the Union Museum and the Union Hall. There are three routes that can be followed during a one-day visit: Alba Carolina Fortress Gateway, Route of the Three Fortifications, Alba Carolina Fortress Bastion Route. For trips, a fee is charged (check the amount on the official site of the city).
We recommend that you arrive at the 3rd Gate before 12:00, when the guard is exchanged. During the weekend, cannons are fired on this occasion.
In beautiful weather (and if you keep your feet) do not miss a walk along the fortress's ditch (3.5 km). There is also the possibility to rent bicycles or electric trotters.
