Steam-Powered Railway Huțulca
The Moldovita railway was used for timber transport until 2001. Since July 2005 the 12 km long line is privately operated.
The narrow-gauge railway from Moldovița was built by an owner of a sawmill in Munich, Louis Ortieb, and was used from 1888 to transport timber from the forest to the sawmill.
Originally the route of the Mocănița was 23.9 kilometers from Moldovița to Rososa, but over the years many variants were built and the whole system came in 1987, with the establishment of the part of Rascova - Rasca Straight + Burns, on a length of 73 km.
Did you already know? The steam locomotive was built in Reșița, Romania.
