Dacian Fortresses of the Orăștie Mountains
The fortified complex, commonly known as the Dacian Fortresses of the Orăștie Mountains, is located in the central and western sector of the geographical unit with the same name, concentrated around the Grădiştei river, which springs from the Godeanu massif and flows into the Mureş River in Orăștie.Spread across numerous valleys of the massif, arranged on natural or artificial terraces, whose altitude varies between 500 m and 950 m, there are a series of habitats, most fortified, with features and forms of a unit surprising, which do dominate the access roads to the main fortress, Sarmizegetusa, on the heights of Grădiştea Hill, at 1200 m altitude.
