Discover the region
Suceava is a green area and has the largest forest fund area compared to the other counties in Romania. The forest covers 51.6% of its area.
The mountain region includes the Suhard and Călimani massifs (with the Pietrosul peak of 1791m), the most imposing volcanic mountains of the country, Obcina Mestecăniş, the Giumalău-Rarau massifs, Obcina Feredeului, Obcina Mare, the Stănişorai mountains, the Dornelor depression.
The plateau includes the Piedmontese hills Marginea, the Rădăuţi depression, the Suceava-Fălticeni plateau, the Dragomirna plateau, the Liteni depression, the Baia Piedmont plain and the Siret valley.
The position of the county determines the cool character of the climate, whereas the climate of the county is temperate continental.
Suceava County has a rich hydrographic network represented by rivers (Bistrita, Dorna, Moldova, Siret, Shomuzul Mare, Suceava), streams and ponds. In the region we can also find mineral and mineralized water springs, the most famous springs are those from Şaru Dornei, Poiana Negri and Coşna.
